Chasing Chickens
Chasing Chickens was painted in honour of the holidays I spent at my Nan’s; where we fed chickens, played in the yard, and laughed at her silly costumes and burnt dinners. Chicken chasing time would be announced by my Nan, who would yell, half jokingly, at her two beautiful, yet very docile and very well fed (probably athritic dogs), Sooty and Bubba, “Round ‘em up!” Knowing full well they were too sweet and rotund to round up anything. She and Grandad shaped so much of my childhood, and this little moment with a chick feels like the heart of those memories.
